Kato Phournos Tomb

The "Kato Phournos Tomb", belonging to group II of the tholoi in Mycenae, has the lowest position on Panagia ridge. Its roof has collapsed, and nothing above the lintel is preserved. - Above right: Looking over the remains of the tholos to the fertile Argive plain. - Below right: Another view to the inside of the tomb and the gateway. - Below left: Approaching the tholos from downhill you first see the massive lintel blocks.

Above: Since the dromos is in danger of collapsing it has metal supports that also prevent any entry into the tholos. - Below: The outer face of the stomion.

Above: The stomion from inside the tholos. - Below: The lowest course of stones in the thalamos and bordering the stomion are larger, squared blocks. On top of them are more or less regular courses of smaller blocks.
